Q. How do I remove a portion of a recording using the Track Editor pane, without leaving a space from where the cut came?

A. Once you've opened the Track Editor pane, drag in the lower half of the region to hilite the area which you wish to remove. Now click once in the hilited area (again, in the lower half), and the section will split out from the rest of the region and become selected in the timeline. Move the cursor back up into the timeline and click once on the section to be removed and press the controlKey and then the deleteKey, this will remove the section, and move the region at the right over into the removed portion's space (if you want the space, just hit the DeleteKey).
