A. While it's possible to use the standard of Copy and Paste to duplicate a region in GarageBand, the easiest method for duplicating one or more regions is to hold down the OptionKey and then click and drag on the region(s). As the duplicate region(s) appears it can be dragged to other areas within the same track, or dragged into another track of the same type ("Real" region to "Real" track, and "Software" region to "Software" track).

To duplicate more then one region at a time see: Selecting Multiple Regions
