Q. How much is Apple's GarageBand for Windows?

A. GarageBand for Windows costs $599 and comes with a free Mac Mini with which to run it.

Yeah, I know, it's not really accurate, that still doesn't let you run GarageBand under windows. But come on, have a sense of humour, eh? Your face won't crack if you smile. Really. And besides, you can run Windows on your intel Mac Mini if you really want to do so.

The truth is that there is no equivalent to Apple's GarageBand that runs under Windows (or any other platform... including the Mac, really), and anything that even comes close costs many times what the cost of GB breaks down to in its suite.

Windham Hillbilly suggests that the software that comes closest to GB, but costs many times the price, would be Cakewalk's Sonar 6, Sony's Acid, or Propellerhead's Reason 3.0

GarageBand from Apple Computer uses audio loops and MIDI loops in Apple Loops format. It can work with Audio Units plug-ins. Apple Macintosh Compatible FireWire and USB interfaces can be used to connect Audio and MIDI instruments to your Mac, and be recorded into GarageBand.
