Q. Can I use Apple's GarageBand to remove a guitar/drum/etc track from an Imported file?

A. No, there are no “tracks” in a mixed recording, there is a Left Channel and a Right Channel in a stereo recording, and a single channel in a mono recording. Once all the parts are mixed, you can not remove one instrument. It's like mixing Blue and Yellow paint and then trying to separate the two colours, or baking a cake and trying to get the flour back.

You can not use GarageBand, or any other consumer software to do this. ( In a stereo recording vocals can often be reduced significantly due to the manner in which Stereo recordings are often panned)
