Find the Right Gear: Interfaces Band & Orchestra Drums Guitars Misc Gear MIDI Controllers Mics Audio Interfaces

Q. What's new in GarageBand '09?

A. Functionally, not a lot, though major changes to the GUI

The Biggest, and most Hyped additions are the Learn to Play, and Artist Lessons (The former are free, the latter cost $4.99 each). (One side note to keep in mind, thus far ONLY intel based Macs can download the Artist lessons, and even the Basic Lessons are not officially supported on PPC machines, they need to be downloaded via the web, not GarageBand.)

After that would be the new Amp Sims and effects boxes. They have their very own Photo realistic GUI for both selecting the type of amp/effect as well as setting their parameters.

Finally, GB has gotten an overall facelift, which has both cleaned up, and added a level of complexity to the interface.

If you're coming from GarageBand 3, however, keep in mind that the features that GarageBand 08 added (for which there are MANY) are there too, making this a fantastic upgrade for version 1, 2, and 3 users.
