Q. Which is the newest version of GarageBand?
A. This has confused a lot of people because some versions of GarageBand were referred to by name, and others by version number. The first 3 versions of GarageBand were simply called GarageBand, with the addition of their version number; so there was GarageBand 1, GarageBand 2, and GarageBand 3. When version 4 was released its name was changed to reflect the name of the iLife series, thus GB4 was called GarageBand '08. This naming convention continued for the next 2 releases, GB5 was called GarageBand '09, and GB6 was called GarageBand '11
In 2013 Apple decided to revert back to the original naming convention, calling the software simply "GarageBand" and adding its version number, which jumped from 6 to 10. So the latest version of GarageBand as of October 2013 is GarageBand 10.
